... Disciples ...

~When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. [Matthew: 9:36-38]

Band Member Bio-Sketches
Kevin J. Alexander, (vocals), grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA and had his first formal music lesson when he was 7 years old. He is the oldest son of five children born into an Irish-Catholic family which insisted that each child complete a course of instruction in classical piano. As a young boy he gave recitals and attended auditions throughout the tri-state area and was regularly paraded in front of relatives, nursing home residents and total strangers to provide piano or vocal performances including his Father’s favorite Irish folk tunes, operatic and Broadway musical pieces. He claims that his outgoing personality and communications talent blossomed after he kissed the magical “Blarney Stone” on a family vacation to Ireland in 1972 -- (for those who are not familiar with this lore - the mythical stone is located in the highest portion of Blarney Castle and as legend has it -- all who kiss this stone receive “the gift of gab”). Kevin studied piano for 9 years and then received his first guitar as a Christmas present in seventh grade -- (from SEARS of course). It wasn’t long before he formed his first band and then eventually he found himself jamming in coffeehouses and on “The Wall” at Penn State University. His early musical influences include the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Alice Cooper, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Grateful Dead, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Allman Brothers Band, The Who, Yes, Elton John, Michael Franks and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Kevin graduated from Penn State with a BS degree from the College of Human Development and works as a marketing manager in the healthcare and Christian media industries. When he's not working or creating music he enjoys spending time with his wife Janie and their beautiful children: Cherise (19), Kristina (16), Dustin (14), and Carson (9). Finally, Kevin gives credit to his brother Bob for introducing him to Christian Contemporary Music. In the summer of 1994 Bob was playing guitar for a Naples, FL church-based quintet and recommended Kevin for a vocal audition -- the rest is history. Twelve years later, his love of God, family, and Christian Contemporary Music are at the very center of his life.
Greg Robinson (rhythm guitar) was born in 1949 in Cambridge, Mass. Greg also lived in Arlington, Massachusetts and Martha’s Vineyard before moving to Naples 21 years ago. He is married with 5 children and has been playing guitar at St. John the Evangelist Catholic church for the past 13 years. Greg taught himself to play guitar when he was 16. Listening to Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and Simon and Garfunkel he quickly fell in love with folk, blues, and jug band musical styles. In the mid 60”s the beatnik clubs of Boston and Harvard Square is where he would find this music. Then Greg discovered psychedelic rock and the easy tunes of Donovan, Cat Stevens and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. In 1971 Greg moved to Martha’s Vineyard and to this day claims that his playing style was influenced heavily during that period by a local guitar player named James Taylor. He started to write and perform with a poet friend of his and they played the local circuit on the Vineyard for a couple of years. The music scene was very avant-garde and Greg even played an NAACP rally. Greg began his career playing in churches at the age of 20 when his pastor in Arlington asked him to play a contemporary service. He also used to play songs for his children and once performed a duet with his five year old son. The mellow songs of folk music have been Greg’s favorite throughout the years, but like most rockers he’s also loved the sound of a screaming lead guitar. In addition to playing guitar at St John’s he has also performed at the Sugden Theater in Naples, FL in the play entitled Working. Today Greg listens to many of the Contemporary Christian bands but also enjoys the sounds of classic rock musicians such as Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, and James Taylor. The guitar that you see Greg playing with 4th Vision was earned in trade for his labor in a home renovation. It was built by Ross Teigen, a local, expert guitar maker. Through the years at St John’s Greg has seen many changes and performances. Despite this lengthy history of service to the church Greg claims that his contribution as a member of 4th Vision is one of the greatest musical experience he has had and one that fills him with hope for the church. In Greg’s own words: “4th Vision brings a message in every song … (the songs are) … inspiring and entertaining for all those that will listen. If we can touch but a few at each service then I am fulfilled.”
Maria Alexandra Romero (keyboards, vocals) is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. She moved to Naples 2 years ago, in pursuit of a better life for her and her two children. She works as a music teacher for a local Catholic school. Alexandra comes from a family of musicians and artists and her background includes classical piano training at the Music Conservatory of Caracas and, outside the conservatory, a love for folk and popular music of South-America and of course, rock and jazz imported from England and the U.S.A.! She earned a scholarship to study at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Music with High Distinction. She has always combined her teaching jobs with playing professionally in various bands and working as a studio keyboardist behind pop musicians in Venezuela. Alexandra was the keyboardist for one of the most noted pop-rock bands in Caracas, "Los Beat 3.” With this band she traveled to England for three consecutive years to perform at the “Beatlefest” held every summer in Liverpool. It was the first time a rock group from Venezuela performed in Liverpool and it was an incredible experience for all of them. Then, in 2001, the band was requested to record two original compositions at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. This was quite an honor for the group and especially for Alexandra, who was in charge of all the piano and keyboard arrangements and backing vocals. These songs are included in a CD compiled by the organizers, featuring what they considered the best bands of the year. When Alexandra moved to Naples she began to attend mass at St. John’s and immediately decided to join the Choir. It was a wonderful experience to work with so many talented musicians and little by little, she became more active as a pianist and keyboardist. Alexandra was extremely happy to become the keyboardist for 4th Vision, a band that was born at the Life Teen Mass, and that offers a venue for her talents and her ministry.
Lucio A. DaSilva (bass guitar) was born and raised south of Brazil, in the Bavarian style city of Blumenau. His father was a professional musician, and Lucio soon started to learn how to play guitar just by watching his father rehearse. He was raised in the Catholic Apostolic Church, watching his uncle playing organ on Sunday’s mass. On the age of 17, while studying Chemistry Engineering, Lucio formed a band, performing lead guitar and lead vocals, with his friends in Blumenau, playing songs from Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and his own compositions. The band lasted for about 2 years, until Lucio moved to Curitiba (still in Brazil) to study Civil Engineering, and also the others members of the band had moved to different areas of the country to study and work. In mid 1993, Lucio married Janete and soon they were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Brendha. Well, life was not easy in Brazil, and in the middle 2000’s, Lucio received a job offer and move to America, and so he did. He arrived in Naples on November, 19 of 2000, just 1 day before his 34th birthday. His wife and daughter arrived 1 month later. They found America, and Lucio realized a dream he had since he was a teenager: to live in United States of America. In 2004, Lucio experience his worst nightmare: After suffering almost 8 months with headaches (excruciating in the last month), been analyzed by several professionals, he found himself with cancer in the base of skull. This near death experience made Lucio to seek more for God through Jesus Christ. He believes power of the prayers and that this saved his life. Janete, Brendha and Lucio are now waiting for a new God Servant and family member, Raphael, that in Hebrew means: “God has healed”. Raphael is expected to be born on April 12 of 2007. Late 2005, in one Sunday after mass, 4th Vision were performing the “Adoration Night” for the Lifeteen and Edge members, and decided to ask if the band was seeking for members. And so it happened. He took for himself 4th Vision’s quote: “To sing is pray twice, to Rock is Pray Thrice”.
Patrick Sventek, (lead guitar), was born in Corry, PA in 1960 and moved to Sherman, N.Y. in 1961 where he grew up on a dairy farm. He graduated High School in 1978 and received a BE in Chemical Engineering in 1983 from the State University of N.Y. @ Stonybrook.
Pat’s musical interests began early in life. His mother played the organ for Sunday Mass at the local Catholic Church and he picked up his first guitar at about age 5. Like many musical virtuosos’ Patrick is self-taught -- (he never had a music lesson in his life). His primary musical influences were “70’s bands” such as Led Zeppelin, Rush, Styx, Kansas and many others.
Patrick’s family is comprised of his lovely wife Jayne, (married since 1984) his two and daughters, Sheena (17), and Janelle (13). They settled in Naples, FL in 1987.
QUOTE: “I’d like to thank St. Johns, Father Glackin and all the parishioners for their continued support of Lifeteen and 4thVision. I must admit that this has been the most rewarding experience in both my musical and spiritual career. I thoroughly enjoy the music, the reactions and the interaction with the fellow band members. I look forward to many more years of “ Rockin” with 4th Vision and the people of St. Johns.”

Jessica Barton, (Percussion, Vocals, Guitar), was born in Kansas City, MO but spent the first part of her life in Albuquerque, NM before moving to Naples in 1989. She comes from a very musical family, in which every member plays at least one instrument. Jessica began singing in church at the age of 9. At that time her family pioneered the music ministry for the Children’s Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church in Naples. They then brought their musical talents to St. John’s in 1995, where they are affectionately known as the Bar”Tones”. It was at St. John’s Family Mass that Jessica taught herself how to play the drums and guitar.
Jessica is a graduate of Lely High School, and majored in Percussion and Music Education at the University of Florida. (GO GATORS!!) She participated in the Marching and Concert Bands at both Lely and UF, and recorded with the University of Florida Wind Symphony in 2001. She is currently a percussionist with the Naples Concert Band and an “on-call” percussionist with the Edison College Concert Band and the Opera Naples Orchestra. She also performs with local Christian Indie recording artist Jona Kimbrough (www.GoJona.com), the local production company and comedic duo, Compton & Bennett, and is involved with the contemporary music ministries at other churches in Naples, including Naples Christian Church and East Naples United Methodist.
Along with her passion for drums and guitars, Jessica also plays the trumpet, trombone, and a little piano. Her influences come from a broad spectrum of different artist including: Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin, Jona Kimbrough, Avalon, Amy Grant, Hyper Static Union, Phillips-Craig-and Dean, Barlow Girl, Casting Crowns, Matthew West, David Phelps, Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthew’s Band, Sting, James Taylor, Vince Gill, Buddy Rich, and Glenn Miller.
QUOTE: Jessica says, “I am so excited that more and more contemporary Christian songs are finding their way into mainstream music, and that I am participating in a band that is helping to bridge that gap. I wasn’t always a huge fan of Christian Music. I used to think it was boring and repetitive. Eventually, as my relationship with God grew, the words to those songs had more meaning and I found that the only true way I could express my emotions, praise, and thanks to Him were through those songs. It is this music that makes my life so much richer. I am very grateful to be a part of 4th Vision and the music ministry at St. John because it provides the outlet I so desperately need, in order to be a better Christian.”
