... Genesis / About 4thVision ...
... I shall lead the blind by a road they do not know ... I shall turn the darkness into light ... [Is 42:16]
-----
It all began in the Fall of 2002 when the director of St. John the Evangelist's youth ministry requested that the "Lifeteen Band" learn and perform more of the Christian Contemporary Hits that the teens in her fellowship group wanted to hear. In order to achieve this objective the band began to rehearse on a regular weekly basis and before long was performing these new songs with great intensity and receiving an enthusiastic response from the congregation.
4thVision was identified by name in April of 2003. The band was asked to perform at a benefit concert for the "Foundation Fighting Blindness" and as a condition of registration was required to submit a name that would be used for promotional purposes. The process of choosing a name for the band began with reflection on the historical account of life of St. John the Evangelist, (since the roots of the band were deeply intertwined with Naples, FL based St. John the Evangelist Church). After careful consideration of several concepts and ideas they arrived at a short list of 6 nominations. 4thVision was selected by a polling of the congregation and was resolved by virtue of the fact that St. John the Evangelist was the 4th Apostle who experienced the historic Vision of the Revelation.
4thV's music selections are identified based upon review of songs from from four separate categories: Traditional Hymns, Christian Hits, LifeTeen Requests, and Secular Songs with Christian or spiritual lyrics/themes.
The band is recognized primarily for it's covers of Christian Hits and in any given performance or church service you may hear songs that were originally recorded by popular artists such as: Audio Adrenaline, Kutless, Newsboys, Third Day, Mercy Me, Gary Oliver, Stellar Kart, Matt Maher, Darryl Evans, Steven Curtis Chapman, Darlene Zschech, Matt Redman, Sonicflood, Lincoln Brewster, Amy Grant, Jars of Clay, Shaun Groves, Jennifer Knapp, Michael W. Smith, DC Talk, Caedmon's Call, Tree 63, Josh Groban, Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, Tim Hughes, Jennifer Knapp, Chris Tomlin or Bebo Norman.
